Went to the new visitor center last Tuesday, they really got it right with that place from the location to the architecture to the interior layout and presentation. I’ll have to wait to see the restored cyclorama but the new VC is just incredible, highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t gone yet. The restoration they’ve done over by the Den is great, what a new perspective that gives to the whole field. Lunch at me and my son’s favorite Chinese restaurant. Took an evening horseback ride across the field and had dinner in town at the Dobbin house, both first time experiences and both very cool indeed. Hadn’t been in two years and all in all a great day at the Burg.

The new visitor is nice, very crowded as well! I look forward to the 'new" Cyclorama on September 26th.

I know this is an old post. I'd like to comment. I finally made it out to the new visitors center and Cyclorama. Therre were at least 5 busloads of kids in the building (weekday field trips). No problem at all. There was plenty of space for all.
The new Cyclorama layout is a pleasure. It really means something, now. My granddaughter, age 9, was amazed.
And the movie presentation and displays are excellent. I think my granddaughter learned a lot. And so did I.
Did have some sticker shock in the gift shop, though. A hundred bucks for a kepi!!! Ouch.

Iam sure anyone who has been to the new VC has to see the lack of artifacts on display. This saddens me and now you have to pay where before it was free, as it was always to be. I would recommend going downtown. The Wills House is open, and the train station. Plenty to do and see downtown. Remember the town is also the battlefield. Enjoy your visit.
