Major Matthias Winston Henry, CSA , Pelham's Artillery, USMA 1861

Looking for info on this Confederate artillery officer. Known to have served as a Captain in Pelham's artillery and under Longstreet at Fredericksburg, 12/62 and at Gettysburg.
Later he was Chief of Artillery under Hood. Does anyone know what became of him?

Like Hood, he was a native Kentuckian, and a member of the West Class of 1861. Interestingly, the Southern Historical Society Papers, vol. 30, states that Henry ranked 44th in his class; West Point itself states that there were only 34 graduates in 1861, with Custer ranking 34th. Therefore, a typo is likely in the SHSP volume.

Henry was on Stuart's staff in early '62 and served with the horse artillery before promotion and transfer as Hood's divisional chief of artillery in '63. When Hood recovered from his Gettysburg wound, Henry went with his chief to the Army of Tennessee. He was taken prisoner at Salisbury, NC, April 12, '65.

Henry became an engineer after the war, and was involved in mining operations in Nevada. He died in 1877 and is buried in Virginia.

I hope this helps.
