Grave marker of Sgt. Henry Wentz. His parents lived at the intersection of Wheatfield Rd and Emmittsburg RD at the time of the battle. Henry is buried in Green Hill cemetery, Martinsburg W.VA.

Hi Larry,

What do you think of the mystery of Sgt. Wentz's role at Gettysburg?

Here is Tom McMillan's take on it?

And as mentioned famous GB Historian Harry Pfantz who died in 2015 also scarcely tells of Wentz!?

Do you think that Wentz and other native Gettysburg Confederate soldiers didn't help their officers with inside information because it wasn't asked of them or because they didn't offer it? They had to feel much like loyalists helping the Confederates against their kin? Did any of the Gettysburg natives aid the ANV brain trust? It appears not? Any takes on this??

BTW Do you think his family kind of dis-owned him because he fought for the South??

Also for you Gettysburg experts, I'm sure this is obvious old news, but remember I'm a Gettysburg 101 kinda guy?
