Jim,

Looks to be the Spangler farm. Beyond that I have no clue.

Might this be the Frey/Biggs farm on the Taneytown Road, looking west toward Cemetery Ridge? Thanks for the hint, Ms. Martin! The monument in the background helped, too!

Suzy and John.....I'll declare you both winners on this photo.

That is Sparky and HE was staying at the Frey farm on Taneytown Rd., until they had the fire there a couple of years ago.

Sparky had an attraction to my wife Kathy. Whenever we stopped to say hello or snap his picture, he would start braying when Kathy approached him.

Last I heard, he was a neighbor of Stan Petestreet out on Hanover Rd.

You can tell I'm getting REALLY low on pics to share when I resort to "Pterodactyl Tree" as my offering. Where on the field would you find it?

Sorry, nowhere near the Clio of Culp's Hill, Ed. Clio the Rav4, however, was nearby.

I'm surprised that eagle-eyed Steve F. hasn't commented yet. He sent me in this direction for sunrise last year so I could catch the sun's first rays coming over one of my favorite monuments.

Ah Suzy,

9 PA Reserves. Did I tell you a great sunrise photo can be obtained when the sun comes up in the saddle? You're testing my memory, and that's not fair! My memory is as bad as my eyes. Oh wait... my eyes are okay now. My memory is as bad as my hearing.

Over a comrades grave.

Steve

But where is this dinoaaur tree?

New Hampshire wins! Yes, Steve, last year you directed me there for sunrise shots over the 9th. PA Reserves. Pterodactyl Tree is across from the monument near the pull-off.

It is a somewhat obscure sunrise opportunity, in summer. The sun comes up in the saddle.

As you all know, I'm never in bed an hour before sunrise. Gotta get out there - beautiful time of day, no tourists, quiet, easy to imagine what may have happened. I love that time of day on the battlefield.

Okay, now where is this dinosaur tree? And we have dinosaur footprints too!

Pterodactyl Tree is across the road from the 9th. PA Reserves monument. There's a pull-off for a car or two near it. You definitely can't miss it. The minute you turn onto Warren Ave. you will see it. Not too far from the dinosaur prints, either! Maybe Lisa can get a pic of it sometime when she's buzzing through the park and has her camera at hand.

As much as I love the monuments, I'm also a rock formation/tree/land formation/fence kind of person. I have observed the condition of this tree for years.

You will have no problem finding it, Lisa.

Wow, that was quick! I was thinking of our mini-tour with Lew when I posted this one. And if you look to the right side, Ginny, you can see that sign that I didn't see (hey, it was still dark out that morning. I'll never live that one down. But now I have new eyes). I cut it so the sign wouldn't be too obvious. And there's the original Ripley up there.

Yeah, sure, you did.

Noticed Ripley right off. Didn't need any part of the sign. I'm at work at the moment. Will see what I have when I get home later.
