Steve and Pat both got it.
This is a monument to Lafayette McLaws, which is located near the south end of Forsythe Park in Savannah.
Over to you, Steve!

Steve's photo looks like something I saw on a monument on a hill across the street from a place where there once was a sign saying something to the effect "Firearms Prohibited" which, of course was quite ironic considering what was placed there.

The marble on top is now unreadable.

Bill,
I think we're actually on #4 at this point. Can you imagine how many pages we would have if still on the original?
Ed is counting metric I think. They also announced today that in Canada, henceforth, they will be using metric hours with 100 minutes each. They haven't figured out the metric month yet.

The whole daylight savings time thing becomes a lot easier, and with a simple set of steps, it's easy to convert almost any digital watch to the new system.
PM me if you'd like the instructions to see if you'd like using metric time.

I have to admit that the new system takes some getting used to, especially when giving directions that are based on the face of the clock.
And there is a government committee working on what to do with the titles of books and movies that refer to things like "noon"...

 | | Re: Here we go again, again, again - Mystery Photo Thread 3 | | Posted on: 4/2/2010 10:59:34 AM | Ed taught me how to cheat on these things. I Googled it.
"The Confederate Monument was completed in the spring of 1879 and is located in Forsyth Park. Although the lone figure of a proud yet beaten soldier stands atop this monument, it is truly a memorial to the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who gave their lives for the lost cause of the Confederate States."
A very impressive monument, and built at a time when the South was still hurting economically.
As for your interest, Ed. Because you are the "civilwarguyincanada" I suppose. But I know there is more.

But there is another interesting thing about this monument.
Stick to the base-ics.
