Just Found

I was cleaning up my photo files when I came across this forgotten shot. Since I'm trying to figure out how the photo posting system works, this seems like a good experiment.

The who is easy enough; it's there where that might be a problem.

Well, that part worked.
How do I make it larger?

It looks like you're posting the thumbnail of the photo rather than the full size image.

That's right.
Here's the entire view:

I was at the Erie Maritime Museum to visit the brig NIAGARA and was suprised to find this. Wish I'd taken more photos; now I have a much bigger memory card.
Civilwarguyincanada also ID'd this in a private message.
Bill N-T, you were right about the thumbnail.

With the riding crop his wife gave him. He didn't carry a sword on LRT so the 83 PA monument showing him drawing a sword is inaccurate.

Great statue, thanks for sharing.

I thought he did have a sword, but didn't unsheath it. His sword is in the Smithsonian on display in the Civil War section.

Thanks Jared,

I'll look into it more. I take that from this quote: "If indeed this is Strong Vincent (on the statue) the inaccuracy of the sculptor is that he did not carry his sword while leading his troops."

"Did not carry" could either mean didn't have one on, or didn't unsheath it.

More research.

Let's see, that will be Book 4 Section 8 of things to research. John Heiser has agreed I can bring a sleeping bag and camp out in the library, so now I'm in negotiation if the "sutler" (or whatever the overpriced mess kitchen is called) for midnight snack priviledges. Can I bring my own "refreshments?"

Not sure who you would apply to Steve (here I resist urges to make comments) but there might be grants available...we have them up here, but the info is down there and, well, it gets complicated...

Cheers
Ed
