What kind of plants are they?

I was following the auto driving tour trail through Gettysburg today. On the north side of Route 30, heading up toward the Peace Light, I saw lots of funny-looking plants.

The stalks look like cornstalks, but instead of ears of corn, they appear to have big, fuzzy tassels at the top of the stalks.

Anybody know what kind of plants these are?

Thanks. I looked up sorghum, and the pictures sure look like what I saw yesterday.
