Name: William Michael Hope | Rank: Private | Company: C | William 'Mike' Hope, son of Henry Hope and Alatha Frances Garrison Hope first joined Parson's Bayport Indefendents, but was under age. He was discharged, but reaching age 17 in 1863, joined Capt. Samuel E. Hope (his first cousin) C. Co., 9th Florida Infantry Regiment. He was stationed at Camp Finegan near Jacksonville when he wrote a letter home to his father in December 1863. He died in the Lake City, Florida Confederate hospital, sometime after the Battle of Olustee, of common measles. Supposedly, he is buried among the unknown soldiers in a common burial grave.

Name: Stephen L. Crews | Rank: Private | Company: D | I would like to know where this unit originated. Stephen Crews was my great grandfather. I would like to know what his home of record was at the time he enlisted in the Army. I have also noticed that there were eight Crewses in the company that he was assigned to. I wonder if these were close relatives, brothers or cousins.
