Amos was born in Ohio in 1839, and went to Illinois in in the spring of 1867. He was married November 17, 1869, to Miss Margaret Timmerman, a native of Ohio. She, with three sons and three daughters, are left to mourn.

He came to Kansas in the fall of 1876, first locating in Marion county. In 1881, he moved so section 8, Highland township, which was his home up to the time of his death.

He enlisted in 1861, for three months, in Company C, Third Ohio Infantry, and on the organization of the company was appointed corporal. On expiration of three months service, he enlisted for three years, and was commissioned second lieutenant of Company C, Eighteenth Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and with this command went to the Department of the Cumberland, and was engaged at Stone River, Tullahoma and Chickamauga, and in the Atlanta campaign. After the battle of Stone River, he was promoted to First lieutenant, and after the fight at Tullahoma, to Captain. He was mustered out in 1864, at the close of service. He was an honored member of Judson Kilpatrick Post, G. A. R., which organization will have charge of the funeral. He was a good man, one who made the world better for his having lived in it, and whose demise will be a loss to the community.

Wounded at Stonesriver Jan.2, 1863. Went to hospital in Nashville, then he was in cincinnati, then sent to Quincy,Illinois. George then returned to regiment Mar.22, 1864 and then mustered out Nov. 9, 1864 at Camp Chase,Ohio. He married Eliza Abbott at Quincy,Il,then moved to Maud,MO. and then to Clarency Mo. He was in the GAR Post No. 36 of Clarence, MO. Paddy Shield's Post. NO. 36. He Died Feb. 11, 1915. Born 9-23-1839 at Pike, Ohio. He had 2 brothers, that i know of who were also in the Ohio Regiment. Francis M. Coder, 1 Ohio, Heavy Art'y, and Samuel 1st Ohio, Heavy Art'y.
I have not researched these brothers.

Thomas Goodwin was the son of John Goodwin who served in the same unit as his father. He was my great grandfather's brother. Thomas served his full enlistment and discharged November 9,1864. Before his death in 1911, he received a pension for his service. He is buried with his wife and two daughters in Montgomery County, Iowa where he and his family lived for nearly 40 years.

John Goodwin was a waggoner. He fell from his wagon near Athens, AL June, 1962 and was injured. Following the battle at Stone's River, John was discharged having received a 'certificate for disability for discharge' due to injuries from the fall. He died 11/4/1888 in Roxabel, OH.

ANDREW W. VORIS, farmer, eldest son of Isaiah and Nancy (Hughes) Voris, was born near Bremen, Fairfield Co., Ohio, June 20, 1838. In 1849 his parents removed to Logan and lived two years. In 1852 his father purchased a farm three miles east of Logan. He was reared on a farm and educated at the common schools. At the age of twenty-one years he rented a farm near Gore. A year later he purchased a farm in Marion Township. Feb 14, 1865 he enlisted in Company H, Eighteenth Ohio Infantry, at Athens, Ohio, as a private for one years and was on garrison duty at Chattanooga, Tenn., until the last of May 1865. They were then transferred to Augusta, GA., where he was detailed on special duty in the commissary department. Nov. 9, 1865, he was mustered out near Augusta, GA., and returned to Columbus, Ohio, where he received his discharge, and returned home. Some time after returning from the Army he sold his farm and rented a farm one year. He then purchased the farm he had sold and in 1872 purchased the farm where he resides. Aug 7, 1860, he married Charlotte, daughter of Robert and Anna (McGee) Sanderson, of Hocking County. They have six children - Emma, wife of Noah Carpenter, of Hocking County; Charles J., Lucy, Iona A., Francis A. and Shady V. at home. William I., died aged three years; Benjamin J., in infancy; George, aged four years; Asa aged three years, and Augustus in infancy. His wife died June 22, 1881, aged forty-seven years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He also was member of the some church and Superintendent of Sabbath-school.

Joseph Huggins enlisted in the 18th OVI on September 9, 1861 at Beverly, Ohio. He served throughout the campaigns of the 18th while in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. He was wounded and captured at the Battle of Stones River on December 31, 1862. He was paroled in February of 1863 and formally exchanged in June, 1863 when he returned to his unit in time for the march into Alabama and Georgia. He was with his company at Chickamauga and later served on the captured steamer, 'Paint Rock' which was used to run the Confederate Blockade of the Union army at Chattanooga.
