William Winston Eads was born on 31 Oct. 1841 in Stokes Co. North Carolina and died in Bedford Co, Tenn. on 8 June 1925. He was the son of William Henry and Sallie Hatcher Eads. He married Dora Bell Robinson. Winston was a member of Neal's 16th Battalion, Tenn. Cavalry, Co. A, Rucker's Battalion. Recieved a pension. Owned no slaves. William Winston Eads answered the Tennessee Veterans Questionaire.

Enlisted May 31 1862 Athens Tennessee.
Promoted to Orderly Sergeant August 15 1863.
Company Muster Roll through December 31 1864 shows him absent, wounded, Fisher's Hill Virginia September 21 1864; no later record.
Pension aplication by his wife indicates he was wounded and in the (unknown) hospital for 1 year, was held in the hospital to help with the sick and wounded after convalesence.

John was a Corporal in F. CO, 16th Regiment Calvary & 8th Tennessee Militia Confederate Infantry CSA. He was under Gen. Joe Wheeler and Gen. Savage. His pension number is #S7500 Davidson Co., TN.
John's war experience was as follows:
June of 1861 he drilled at Camp Trousdale TN near KY border near Gallatin, TN
He was at Cheat Mt. in Western Virginia under Robert E. Lee. Then to south Carolina in Winter of 61-62. In April of 1862 he went to Corinth MS. In the summer of 62 into KY with Braxton Bragg. Then in Oct of 62 he was in the Battle of Perryville where he is wounded twice. Then he convalesces for 60 days which would put him back for the battle of Stone River(Murfreesboro) in late Dec. or early Jan of 1863. In Sept of 63 he was at the battle of Chickamauga in Northern Georgia. After Chickamauga he transfers to Dibrell's 8th Cavalry which is attached to Joseph Wheeler. He goes to Fort Sanders to fight in support of Gen. Longstreet. Then he supported Gen. Joseph Johnston on his retreat to Atlanta as Sherman forces them back. After that, he goes into TN as a diversionary tactic with Wheeler, and he misses the fall of Atlanta. He pursues Sherman on his

Born Oct 1846 Eidson, Hawkins County, Tn. Died Sept 1920 Sanger, Denton, Texas. At age 16, enlisted Oct 1862 at War Gap, Tn. He served to the end of the War. He Suffered Stomach and head injuries during the Conflicts. He was captured June 18, 1863 at Wattsburg, Tennessee.
