Joined at the age of 25, at the Fayette County Court House on June 11, 1861. Present at Seven Pines, Gains Mill, Frasers Farm, Harpers Ferry, Wounded at Sharpsburg(missed 2nd day), Fredericksburg, Salems Church, Gettysburg(2nd and 3rd day), Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Hanover Junction, Old Cold Harbor, Turkey Ridge, Sappony Church, Reams Station, Kautz Raid, Davis Farms, Severe Wound at 2nd Battle of Reams Station August 25, 1864. Sent to Confederate Hospital in Petersburg, VA. with gunshot fracture to right thigh. Did not operate, abcess formed, removed abcess and thus shortened his leg. Was given 'Medical Certificate Retiring invalid Officer' February 23, 1865. Finished out remaining time at the Post at Tuscaloosa Alabama.
