(1913) 'In july Jesse Hughes , former chancery clerk and ex-Confederate Soldier of Company G, Eleventh Alabama Infantry Regiment, attended the Blue and Gray Reunion on Gettysburg's bloody battlefield, the fiftieth anniversary of this terrible encounter. When he returned home, Old Soldier Hughes reported that he found the very spot where he had been taken prisoner during the battle.
