Pvt. Michael Sanders Gould (1837 - 1863) enlisted in Wilsonville, Shelby, Alabama on 12 SEP 1862. He was soon mustered into the 29th Alabama Infantry, Company 'E' at Camp Lee, Pollard, Alabama and remained there from September 1862 until June 1863. He then moved to Mobile, Alabama with the 29th Alabama in July 1863. Mid August 1863 he was Hospitalized at the Ross Confederate Hospital suffering from the Measles which he was thought to have contracted while he was stationed at Camp Lee. He died at the Ross Confederate Hospital a few weeks later on 3 Sep 1863 from complications of the disease and was laid to rest at nearby Magnolia Cemetery, Confederate Rest in Mobile, Alabama and is buried right next to the General Braxton Bragg Tomb who the 29th Alabama Infantry was placed under and served while stationed in Pensacola in 1862.
