According to family members, Aaron's Civil War Sword has been handed down to his descendants through the years. It was presented to him by the men in his Company. 5th Regiment - Organized in Delaware at large October 25 to November 26, 1862. Duty in Delaware and as garrison at Fort Delaware, and guard duty on line of the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore R. R. from Perryville to Baltimore, until August, 1863. Attached to District of Delaware, 8th Army Corps, Middle Dept., to July, 1863. 2nd Separate Brigade, 8th Army Corps, Middle Dept., to August. Mustered out August 12, 1863. Regiment lost 3 by disease during service.
