Russell D Lord, born in Jackson County, GA 14 Feb 1838 joined at Stone Mountain in DeKalb County in Sept 1861 along with two of his brothers, Stephen and William. Russell's unit was on Prospect Hill at the Battle of Fredricksburg on 13 Dec 1862. His and other units repulsed several waves of Federal assaults that day. During the long, bloody battle he received a head wound which took two months in a hospital to recover from. He served out the remainder of the war and mustered out at Appomatox on 9 Apr 1865. Russell died in June 1914 and is buried at Mt Paran Cemetery in Fulton County, GA.
