John B. Cook was probably born in Union County Arkansas in 1838. Apparently the family moved back and forth between ARK and Al before the war. He was enlisted the 19th Arkansas Infantry Regiment (Dockery's Regiment) on March 1, 1862 at El Dorado, Ark by Col Rust. John B. Cook had been serving as Copany F's 1st Sergeant since June 1, 1863.The unit was captured at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863 and paroled there on July 11, 1863. John B. Cook had no further military record. After the war He married Mary A. and moved to Commerce, Texas. He died in 1914 and is buried in Hugo, Oklahoma.
