Born in 1839, Walton County, Georgia, to Thomas and Eveline Jones Bird Brother of: Terrell Bird, Williamson Bird, Lee Bird, John R. Bird, Melissa Bird Richardson, Amanda Bird Whitley, William Bird, Winfield Scott Bird, Ann Ellington Bird. Company B 'Bartow Avengers' from Bartow County, 35th Georgia Infantry, Anderson's Brigade, A.P. Hill's Division, 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A. Residence Newton County, GA.; 22 year-old farmer. Enlisted on 2/24/1862, he was mustered into 'B' Co. GA 35th Infantry as a Private. Promoted to 4th Sergt 7/25/1862. Wounded in hand by gunshot 12/13/1862 in the 1st Battle of Fredericksburg, VA. He was Killed In Action in the Battle of The Wilderness, VA. The 35th Infantry Regiment was organized at Atlanta, Georgia, and mustered into Confederate service at Richmond, Virginia, in October, 1861. The men were recruited in the counties of Troup, Haralson, Bartow, Walton, Chattooga, Harris, and Gwinnett. Bluford and all 6 of his brothers were Confederate soldiers; Lee died at Vickburg, MS
