Name: Richard Cecil TerryRank: Private Company: I

Richard Cecil 'Cyd' Terry born 1842 Edgefield Dist, SC died 05 June 1894 buried Friendship Cem, Columbus, Lowndes Co, MS Plot: Lot 225. Son of James Clarence Terry, Sr & Mary Ann Simpson Hutchinson. Married Nancy Jane [--?--] (1842 Banks Co, GA - 10 June 1894). From Combined Service Record - Richard C. Terry, a private of Capt. Lemuel Harris' Co (I) of the 11 AL Confederate States Provisional Army, enlisted by Lt. S. B. West, of the 26 AL Vols at Fayette Court House, AL on 13 May 1862, to serve 3 yrs or war; he was b Edgefield Dist, SC, 20, 6 ft 1 1/2 in high, ruddy complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by occupation when enlisted a Farmer. During the last two months, said soldier has been unfit for duty ...(not specified)... days. Private Terry had his arm injured in battle of Seven Pines, and received a gunshot wound of the left hand at the Second Battle of Manassas. Station: Richmond, Va. Date: Sept. 26th 1862. I certify that I have examined the said Richard C. Terry of Capt. L. Harris' Company, and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of dislocation of the radis-ulnar articulation near the left wrist point; and loss of the index finger of the left hand, from a gunshot wound received in battle. In the dislocation, which occurred in a fall, as he states, while charging the enemy's works at Seven Pines, the radio-ulnar ligaments were ruptured, and it appears have never re-united. In every attempt to grasp anything the loose? end of the ulna flies out of place. He is, in my opinion, disabled for the use of firearms. He might be of service in some other capacity, but in my opinion, is not suitable for a hospital nurse. C. J. Clark, Surgeon in Charge 3d Ala. Hospital. Engagements: Present; Seven Pines 1862/05/31. Seven Pines 1862/06/01. Absent Sick; Gaines Mill 1862/06/27. Frasers Farm 1862/06/30. Wounded; Manassas No.2 1862/08/30. Absent Wounded; Harpers Ferry 1862/09/15. Sharpsburg 1862/09/17. Sharpsburg 1862/09/18. Remarks: Residence: Fayette Court House, Alabama. Discharged 1862/11/01 on account of fractured wrist.
