Calvin Pruitt enlisted on Feb. 27, 1862 in Wright's Legion, which would become Co. B of the 38th GA. He was either wounded or became sick in June, 1862. He was in hospital and at home thru most of 1863. He returned to 38th GA, Co B and was captured in the Spotsylvania CH campaign when Early sent a large patrol to find the flank of Grant's army. 400 CSA soldiers were captured and were the first 400 prisoners to occupy Elmira, NY prison. He was released on May 30, 1865 and never got back home.
