Promoted again to Sgt. On 4/1/62. He was captured at Brashear City, LA on 6/23/63 (along with seven other members of his regiment) and paroled on 6/29/63. Re-enlisted 1/22/64. ''AJ'' was wounded at Cedar Creek on 10/19/64 (family lore has it he was hidden by a woman in her house until the confederates were swept out of the area) and he was discharged on 11/28/64. Some of the battles his unit were in included Port Hudson, Winchester, Fisher Hill and Cedar Creek (as part of Sheridan''s Army of the Shenandoah).
