Name: William N. OdenRank: Private Company: K

William Oden enlisted in Co K, 20th Regt, GA Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, CSA, in Richmond County, GA, (“Montgomery Guards”) as a private on 26 Feb 1862. Archives records show that William was present for duty but was sick in March and April, 1862. Hospital records show that he reported to General Hospital No. 18 (formerly Greaner’s Hospital), Richmond, Virginia, on May 2, 1862, complaining of debility. He died there of disease on 8 May 1862. On 26 Oct 1863 William appears on A Register of Claims of Deceased Officers and Soldiers from Georgia which were filed for settlement in the office of the Confederate States Auditor for the War Department. Confederate Archives, Chapter 10, File No. 25, Page 86. I think William Oden is buried in Virginia
