The 1st article mentions no troops at the capital, they must mean Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania. Actually when you think about it the ANV was north of any formidable Union Force! Lee could of proceeded to attack a lot of cities to the north without much conflict. Perhaps threatening Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or other northern cities would have gained foreign recognition or cause Lincoln to the peace talk table?

What about that? Instead of the ANV turning south to face the large AoP??
In a risky battle. Any takes on this strategy??
