Some great vignettes here, Larry !

Significant how rejoicing over Vicksburg eclipsed the Gettysburg news, despite this being a Pa publication.

The reference to eleven hundred rebel pickets and outpost personnel being captured due to the suddenness of Lee’s withdrawal is authentic and accurate, without the hyperbole of so many newspaper accounts.

I love the allusion to Meade’s reply that , far from allowing the enemy to recover his dead and bury them, he would see to that task !

This newspaper strikes me as especially accurate and balanced in its rendition, and please post more citations from it .

Regards, Phil
