Interesting allusion to rebel losses : they admit that success was only achieved at fearful cost, and acknowledge ten thousand killed and wounded ; but in the big battle of the Saturday they admit to only 400 killed and 2,500 wounded. Saturday was 30 August : am I right ?

That’s the climactic counter attack by Longstreet, one of the biggest of the war. It’s hard to see how the confederates lost only about 3,000 that day, and 7,000 on the 28th and 29th.

You would have thought that at least half of the rebel killed and wounded were attributable to the big battle of the Saturday .

Regards, Phil
