Well, seems the Adams Sentinel team had inside information and used it to eviscerate Patterson. If the above statements are all factual, yikes, an epic failure of leadership and soldiering on Patterson’s behalf.

I'm kinda new to 1st Manassas so I'm learning as I go. Yet as I learn it does seem that Johnston getting away and joining Beauregard was the deciding factor in the Confederate victory. I don't see Patterson as a traitor. Simply too old and too concerned about his career to act decisively. The wrong man, in the wrong place at the wrong time.
