Larry,

This makes me recoil in astonishment.

Am I to understand that this emanates from a confederate newspaper ?

It could’ve been penned by a radical republican, or have I misread - or misinterpreted- it ?

Regards, Phil

Hi Phil. I will check the source but I'd bet this copied from a Northern paper and reprinted. Fitz-John Porter deserved everything he got and maybe more.

Larry.

I was right. This article in the Daily Journal was copied from the Chicago Tribune.

Larry,

Can you expand on this please? Yeah, Porter's statements regarding Pope were irresponsible, to say the least....but I believe he was cashiered for not attacking when he knew (but Pope wouldn't admit or acknowledge) that Longstreet was out on his left flank.

LIttle Mac may well have wanted (and acted in such as manner) Pope to fail. I wouldn't accuse Porter of the same crime. At least he showed up at Second Bull Run-:)
