Security breach at Windsor
|
Yesterday – yeah, Christmas day – a young man breached the security perimeter of Windsor Castle. He was armed. His presence was noted rapidly, and he was arrested before he breached any building. I read about this while listening to segments of the Queen’s Christmas Message. Based on what little I know, I praise the Thames Valley police force (and whatever branches of service that might have been involved).
This is not the first time security around the Queen has been challenged, and most of the time her security details have handled the incursions well. But there was also that bizarre episode in 1982 when an intruder reached her bedroom, and she “chatted” with him while summoning assistance. She escaped from that situation unarmed, though I can’t believe but that she was somewhat shaken to find one in her bed chamber.
I’m not an unthinking member of Britain’s Royal Family. But all I have to do is hear one more report on her personal strength in the face of threat to appreciate her personal courage in he face of danger. What a Lady!
Cheers. And stay safe. Brian G

Security breach at Windsor

Thanks Brian, I had not heard this event took place until reading your post. I suspect, and hope that with the eye in the sky and everywhere else (cameras), this perp was quickly apprehended. "People are strange", incidents such as this continue to remind us so.

Security breach at Windsor

Yeah, DT, there has little been said; probably because of Palace involvement. Young man, 19, armed with a black cross-bow, who (authorities say; I think it has been pulled) released a statement on social media claiming to wish to punish the Queen for British offences against other cultures, including the Amritsar incident of 1919.
Police claim he was apprehended within seconds of entering the Palace precinct (the Queen was spending Christmas at Windsor). Whether this means he was within the palace enclosure itself (by which I mean the Upper Ward, where the Queen’s private apartments are) or only within one of the other wards is unclear, but he never had time to even attempt entering any building.
He has been sectioned under provisions of the law which involves medical detention.
Cheers. And stay safe. Brian G
