Rowdy Camp, Lawrenceburg, Indiana
|
Hello All,
My name is Louis Herzner. I am a U.S. Army retiree and am working on starting a second career as an Archaeologist. I am currently in graduate school and am working on a program with the company I work. The company is called Archaeological Research Institute (ARI) located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. I am working on a program for military veterans called the VALOR program. VALOR stands for Veteran's Archaeological Learning Opportunities and Research. This program offers internships to teach the methods and techniques to properly excavate and record sites, as well a cleaning and curating any artifacts found. I said all of that to say this. I am looking or a post revolutionary war camp that was set up around the Lawrenceburg area. This camp was set up for security of the movement of supplies and the protection of the early settlers in the area. I have found some literature on locations of the site. I was wondering if anyone would know if the Military or Government might keep any information on old fort locations and if so, how can I access the information. Does anyone have an idea of other locations I could get more literature on the site? My plan is to get proper State, DNR, and property permits to look for this site with other veterans in hopes to put it back on the map.
I appreciate any help you can provide.
Respectfully,
Louis Herzner
