WHO, besides you and me, remembers Fort Bowyer? But EVERYONE knows about New Orleans. In fact, my British and Canadian friends who came to this country told me that a question about New Orleans was on the exam they took to be citizens.

Peaceful people don't stop foreign ships on the high seas and kidnap suspected deserters.

I'm glad you like the song.

Actually, I remembered Fort Bowyer. You didn't. And you asserted that the last battle of the war was at New Orleans. Not the point though is it? The point is that the British were still pressing the attack while the US was on the defensive.

Retribution for starting a war that should not have happened.

A question about the Battle of New Orleans is on the US naturalization test? Seems rather obscure.

We are talking about the 2nd battle at Fort Bowyer and not the 1st, correct?

Actually, the question was...What is significant about the Battle of New Orleans? The Brit marked their answer as The British lost. The correct answer was ...it occurred after the peace treaty was signed. He still passed the exam tough.
