Has anyone played the "Decisive Campaigns" series? I'm trying out "The Blitzkrieg: From Warsaw to Paris". Very detailed and smaller scale.

I've tried to play those hardcore war games (with NATO counters etc.) many times, and while I love the idea of them, I just can't get into.. Too much micromanagement, not enough theme and immersion. Hearts of Iron is as far as I'll go for hardcore wargames.

Hearts of Iron IV is pretty decent.

Cheers,

Yeah, it's interesting. I'm more a counter and hex wargamer. Always have been. I've tried to get into HOI4 and just can't. I do own it. I need to try it again. I went ahead and wrote a quick review of the game. I'm in the Western campaign right now (invasion of France) and it's fun. There are a few things I don't like, but he has done a really great job.

I am just about to get stuck into Decisive Campaigns. I am a hex-and-counter wargamer myself, although I must admit I have taken to HoI IV. However, I am one of the weirdos that prefer building up logistics and running the intel agency, than doing the actual fighting....

Kai,

Take care of the logistics and the logistics will take care of the fighting...

Cheers,

Colin

Kai,

Are you playing the new "Ardennes Offensive" or the earlier ones that I'm playing? I'm waiting for it to come out on Steam (I think). It's been getting great reviews so far. Video synopsis: [Read More]
He creates awesome in-depth wargames, but they have some quirkiness in them, but not too bad to overlook.

Some screenshots of "Ardennes Offensive" released last month:

Still the earlier ones Brian, but will defo get the Ardennes one when it comes on Steam.

Haven't actually got much further than downloading the installation files so far, but there's always next weekend :-)

Woah, it went back up to $40 on Steam. Up from $9. If you do, I would get the Steam key on https://www.g2a.com/ for $4.

Not to toot my own horn, but I have full access to all Matrix/Slith game releases. One of the perks of having them as my games publisher. (see my signature..)
