Read "With the Old Breed" by Eugene Sledge K Company 3/5 1st Marine Division about the fighting on Peleliu and Okinawa. Most WWII buffs have probably already read the book but for those that haven't it's very good.

The best!

Adapted into the series "The Pacific" brought those stories "Sledge" and his fellow Marines and sailors lived through visually!

Khufu, welcome to MHO.

I read Sledge’s Wth the Old Breed some years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe I was led to it through Henry Berry’s Semper Fi, Mac, compiled and published in 1983. Semper Fi was also a fine read, as I remember it.

Cheers. And stay safe.

With the Old Breed is up there with WWII memoirs.
Helmet for My pillow by Robert Leckie is also an excellent Pacific war memoir.
Regards.
