Abram Dallas Jones enlisted in the Confederate Army at the age of 17 or 18yrs old. There is a receipt for clothing on June 8th 1864. On June 16 1864, He was wounded at Dog Creek at the foot of Kennesaw Mountain. He was shot in the arm and was carried off the field and his arm was amputated. His first wife, Mary Simms, died when his youngest child was only a couple years old. A few years later, in 1888, he married Martha Elmore. She was supposedly a good step-mother to his children. He had no children with Martha before she died. He later married Ella Edgeworth and had 2 children before he died in August 18, 1918 in Tuscalooa, AL. He is buried in Pate Cemetery in Coker, Tuscaloosa County, AL.
