Born March 15, 1824, in Johnston County NC, died as a POW on June 8, 1864 age 40, in Washington DC, in service in the 5th Infantry Company A. Enlisted on May 2, 1861 for service in the 56th Infantry Company B, raised at Cumberland County NC. Enlisted May 1, 1861,Balden County, North Carolina. Mustered in May 23, 1861, May 5, 1862, captured at Wlliamsburg, Virginia. Confined as a POW, May 7, 1862, Fort Monroe, Virginia. Exchanged October 2, 1862. Wounded ang POW, July q, 1863,at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Hospitalized July 3, 1863, Davids Island, New York. Exchanged September 16, 1863, City Point, Virginia. January 1, 1864 returned to service Spotsylvania, Virginia. Wounded and Pow May 19, 1864, Spotsylvania, Virginia. May 22, 1864, hospitalized and POW, Washington, DC. Died of decease July 8, 1864, Washington DC. Preceding in death was his younger brother Pvt. John A Braddy, born Feb. 23, 1827, enlisted in August, 1861 for service with the 2nd Calvary Company D. KIA on April 13, 1862 at Pebbly Run in North Carolina. Brothers, Levi, Benjamin and Samuel also served in the CSA.
