Charles was from Sumter, Sumter Co SC Post office was at Lynchburg. He was 16 y/o in 1860. He joined and was mustered on 15 Nov 1861at Christ Church Parish in Capt T D Frierson's Co. K Hatch's Regiment Coast Rangers for 1 year. He reenlisted on Morris Island on 9 May 1862. He was plagued with chronic diarrhoea and hospitalized twice for same. Given 30 day sick leave for same Oct 1864 from Jackson Hosp. Richmond Va. he was serving in Elliott's Brigade. He fought in 11 major battles and numerous skirmishes. He is listed as a POW at the time of parole at Appomattox Va on 9 Apr 1865. He lived until 8 Nov 1916 when he died in the Confederate Soldiers Home in Columbia, SC. he is buried in the Mouzon family cem. in Mouzon, Wiliamsburg Co. SC. He was the father in law of my 1st cousin 4 x removed.
