Mar 22, 1844 – Feb 17, 1908. Enlisted May 8, 1862. On Oct 15, 1862 admitted to Chimborazo No 4 Hospital in Richmond VA. On Nov 6, 1862 admitted to 3rd Alabama Hospital Richmond VA. On Nov 12, 1862 admitted to 2nd Alabama Hospital Richmond VA. On Dec 2 1862 admitted to General Hospital Charlottesville VA for gunshot wound to the foot and returned to duty on Dec 4, 1862. On Dec 24, 1862 admitted to 5th Division General Hospital Camp Winder Richmond VA. On July 17, 1863 admitted to General Hospital Danville Va for gunshot wound in the hip. He returned to duty on Oct 17, 1864. Paroled Appomattox Court House Apr 9, 1865 with the 4th Corp. Parents: • Daniel James Melvin 1815 – 1903 Henry County Cavalry Reserves – Local Defense.
