Capt. James Ingram raised a company of cavalry in the eastern part of Benton County, and it served in Northwestern Arkansas until October, 1863, when it went south, dismounted, joined and became a part of the Thirty-fourth Arkansas Infantry.

William was my 2nd Great Grandfather. He was born in Alabama and moved to Arkansas. He was from Shepherd Springs, named after his family. He fought with his cousin Capt. James C Wright. The first battle was in Prairie Grove, Ark. He was wounded later in the war. He drew a military pension of $100.00 a year. He lived to be around 92 years old, dying in 1923.
