James was from Columbia Co. Florida. He enlisted at age 38 in Co C 1st Special Fl. Battalion at Fernandina, on 1 March 1862. Enlisted by Capt. Buckman. In Nov. 1862 he is stationed at Alum Bluff, Florida. In July of 1863 he is on guard duty at Fort Gadsten,Fl. On 3 May 1864 he is appointed 4th Corporal. In August 1864 he is on detached duty as a company cook. In Oct. 1864 he is admitted to the hospital at Howard Grove, Va., Ubknown dx. Dec. 1864 promoted to 3rd Corporal and to 2nd Corporal in Feb. 1865.

Little Berry Andrew Cater Anderson enlisted first as a private in 2nd Batt. Fl. Infantry which was later merged with the 10th Infantry. He was wounded and returned home with minnie balls in his lung. He died in 1870, Madison Co.,Fl.of pneumonia. His brother was Jeremiah Wells Anderson who served in 5th Fl. Inf. Co.D. and was mortally wounded at Sharpsburg ( Antietam).He was the son of Henry Anderson and Alice Wells of Brooks Co.,Ga. He was married to Matilda Walker, d/o Solomon Walker of Lowndes Co.,Ga.He is buried with his wife at the Old Walker Cemetery, Lamont,Fl.
