James Jethro Barnes - Sergeant
Enlisted as a Sergeant.
Wounded in the the left knee and captured at South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.
Released in December 1862.
After inspection by surgeons, he was given light hospital duties in Richmond, VA, due to being unfit for field service.
Refusing to stay, he escaped and returned to his unit about one week before the battle of Gettysburg, PA, destroying his disability discharge.

Coleman died 29 July 1862 at Camp Winder in Richmond Va. It was a large military hospital. He is buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. I would like to find out what caused his death. He was only 27 years old.

Alford Nathan Chance - Private
Alford joined Company E 8/1/1861 in Waynesboro Ga with his younger brother George E C Chance. Alford was Captured at the battle of New Market in 1864 and sent to prison at Elmira New York.He survived Elmira and made it home to Ga.

George Emanuel Crawford Chance - Corporal
George E C Chance is my Gr Gr Grandfather, he and his brother Alford N Chance joined company E in Waynesboro Ga on 8/1/1861.George was 15 years old. George was wounded and captured at Cramptons gap and exchanged, and later captured at Gettysburg and sent to prison at Point Lookout Maryland.
He survived Point Lookout and made it back to Burke Co Ga.

Noah Lafayette Hudson - 2nd Lieutenant
N.L.Hudson enlisted in Co. E Infantry of Cobbs Legion on August 12, 1861 in Waynesboro,Georgia by a Captain Morris. According to his service records he was breveted to the rank of Lt for heroism in July of 1862 for bravery during the Battle of Fredericksburg and subsequent chancelorsville campaign. His records have him showing up for yearly company muster every year and on the Prison of War roll at Newport News, Va that indicates he was captured at Sailors Creek, Va on April 6, 1865. He was discharged from the Confederate Army on April 14, 1865 from City Point, Virginia. He remaried a couple of years after the war, had 12 children, and he is buried in Heidleberg, MS.

Washington Marion Brock - Private
Washington Brock was wounded at Chancellorsville. In about 1883, he moved from Carroll County Georgia to Franklin County Arkansas. He applied for a pension and it was granted. His file includes proof of service supplied by his brother, John Ross Brock and his parole. I have copies of 3 letters that he wrote to his brother James Daniel Brock, who died at the Battle of Cold Harbor. In a letter dated September 22, 1862, he said 'I hear a great talk of our troops going up toward Cattanugaa from awl accounts they air firing up for a big fight they air sending troops from different partes of the Confdrasy to Chattanuga our Leiagon has gone up thair so I hear I wish this cruel was would end....'

Micajah died in Richmond, Va shortly after the Battle of Malvern Hills, ( the last battle of the 7 Days Battles that kept Gen McClellan from taking Richmond ).
We are not sure if he died of wounds or a desease. He is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.

Levi John Wooten Turner - Private
Levi was born 11 Aug 1825 in Wilks Co Georgia. He was 26 when he enlisted 15 Aug 1861 from Carroll Co Ga. in Capt Powell's Co F [Carroll County Boys] He was assigned as a Teamster and continued in this role for the war. His first battle was at Yorktown and his unit was engaged in most of the large battles of the war. He was captured 6 April 1865 near Farmville / Sailors Creek. He married my cousin Sarah Catherine Pollard on 24 Sep 1865. He died 3 May 1915 in Nacogdoches Co. Texas and buried beside his wife in Caldonia Cem, Caldonia, Rush Co. Texas

One of three brothers (Henry, Vincent, John) to serve in Company G, the 'Panola Guards.' Son of John Studdard and Izett Long Studdard. Born 5 march 1831 near Rutledge community in Morgan County. Married Martha Ann Crawley 16 January 1855. Lost eye in service. Records of the Georgia Militia in 1864 indicate he was discharged from Cobb's Legion by substitute. Died 14 November 1916 or 1917, buried Studdard Cemetery in Morgan County, Georgia.

One of three Studdard brothers (Henry, Vincent, John) to serve in Company G, the 'Panola Guards.' Born to John and Izett Long Studdard near Rutledge Community in Morgan County, Georgia, 26 May 1833. Married Margaret Partee 5 December 1855. Wounded and captured at the battle of South Mountain on 14 September 1862. Exchanged in November 1862. Moved to Alabama after the war, but kept contact with his family and was named in his father's will. Died 12 August 1914.
