Francis Marion Wells - 1st Corporal
Francis M. Wells was the son of William S. and Susan A. (Reinhardt) Wells of Memphis, TN. He also had four brothers who served in the Confederacy: Charles H. Wells (29th Tennessee Infantry), James M. Wells (13th Tennessee Cavalry), William R. Wells (12th Tennessee Cavalry) and Julius T. Wells (4th Tennesse Infantry). Francis married Fannie Burke (1st) and Rittie McKissick (2nd). He died on March 31, 1932 and is buried in Trion Cemetery in Trion, Georgia. William S. Wells was killed by Union soldiers in June of 1865 who were celebrating the victory at the close of the War. They did not know that he was sick in bed at the time.
