James Burns Shaw

James Shaw was my Great-grandfather. Joined up in Captain Woodruff's Company on Aug.14, 1861 at Marseilles Illinois. His assignment was musician in the regimental band. Due to illness he was discharged October 1862 but signed up again in 29th Michigan Infantry in 1864.

After the war he moved to California and then to Australia with his wife and children. He was born in Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland, June 22 1834 and died Dec. 29, 1915 at the age of 82, buried in Waverley Cemetery, Sydney NSW Australia
