Monroe Dudley Parker was born July 26 1836 near Cobden Illinois. He was the son of William D and Nancy Parker.
He served two enlistments in the Union army. First in the 54th Illinois Infantry 1861-62 and second in the 40th Missouri Infantry 1864-65. When discharged he returned to his wife Sophia Masten and she died in 1867. He remarried Laura Ellen Wilkerson and they moved to Alabama and eventually settled in Jefferson Co Al where he died in 1895 and is buried in Fraternal cemetery in Pratt City,Jefferson Co Al.
