William Niedhold served in the 72nd Illinois, Company A, for the duration of the Civil War. He was a member of the GAR. William lived in Illinois, Northern Mississippi, and Manistee Michigan. He died in Chicago in December 1891.

Captain French was born in Chesterville Maine and moved to Chicago to practice law.He was the company commander.He died from dysentery aboard the steamer JC Swan at 32 years leaving a wife and 3 children after serving 8 months.The road to war is a wide but the return home is a narrow path.
