Loking for info on Henry C., married to Mary, daughter Marietta; he had a brother, name unknown, who lived somewhere in Illinois. Unnamed brother known for his horses, in fact, military obtained some from him for the war (Civil war). I have
a letter wife Mary wrote about their wartime experiences, one in particular. It's quite funny!

Later, daughter Marietta later married Ebenezer Brown. I have sketchy info, would like a lot more; can share some info about the Browns after Ebenezer, just a little. A lot from Paul Brown onward to present day. Please email me if you have any info.

Mustered in Aug 14, 1862 in Linn County, IA. Mustered Out Jun 27, 1865 Louisville, KY. He was sick on a hospital ship on the Mississippi River after the battle of Vicksburg. Later he was detached as a 'Sharpshooter' which I believe means he was given a 'Sharps' rifle, but I don't know that for certain.

My great-grandfather, 1841-1914. Wounded at Battle of Arkansas Post and at the Battle of Atlanta. Recovered from the latter serious wound to rejoin his unit and was able to take part in the 'Grand Review' in Washington, D.C. after the war. But he remembered it was a sad event 'because Lincoln was not there'.
