Company C
Benjamin Franklin Masterson - Private
Private Benjamin Franklin Masterson (Jr) enlisted 14 July 1861. He mustered out 12 July 1865 at Louisville, KY. Engagements that I know he was involved in are Belmont, Missouri; Fort Donelson, Tennessee; Shiloh, Tennessee; and Corinth, Mississippi. I know that he was hospitalized to Nashville prior to Sherman beginning his 'march to the sea' and that he rejoined the regiment after the capture of Savannah. I don't know what he was hospitalized for-- whether it was from disease or wound(s). The family never mentioned any wounds, so I assume that the months he was in hospital was for a disease.
