From Mercer County, Missouri, he traveled to Fort Leavenworth, KS where he enlisted August 10, 1861. Served throughout the war. Discharged August 30, 1865 at Montgomery, AL. Buried at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrence County, MO.

Richard P. Read
- Corporal
Richard P. Read lived at Schodack, N.Y., but had come West to visit his brother, Calvin Read, who lived at that time near New Lancaster, Miami Co, Kansas. Richard P. (mispelled Reed in the record, but both Read and Reed on Official records) enlisted in Co. A, 10th Kansas, Vol. Inf. He was on the 1st Indian Expedition in Aug. of 1862 into Indian Territory. On the return toward Fort Scott, Kansas, Richard died of disease and was buried near Carter Springs (place unknown today). He died 10 Aug 1862 according to a Memorial stone at the Schodack, N.Y. cemetery. His burial site is still unknown.

solomon was born about 1844 in the state of Alabama. Married a woman named Anna Bavard, year unknown. He fathered 3 sons of this union. His widow applied for his Civil War Pension in the year 1889. Solomon enlisted 14 June, 1862 and mustered in 30 may, 1863 at Ft. Scott, Kansas . He was discharged 6 June, 1865.

John W. FLORA is my 2nd great granduncle. He enlisted in civil war military on 14 July 1862. He was in the Co. E. 10th. Kan. Inf. Vol. His rank: Serg's. He was in the company of Capt. John F. Broadhead's.

John was badly wounded in the foot.

Thomas was born in Lawence County Tenn. He came to Missouri in 1862 and enlisted in Co.F at Springfield MO in March of 1863. He served through the end of the war and was discharged in 1865.

George Thomas Tracy
- Private
George T. Tracy enlisted under Capt. Eli Snyder, Company D, 3rd Kansas Volunteers, June 1861; transferred to Company H, 10th Kansas Infantry in April 1862 on consolidation; fought at Prairie Grove, Arkansas, December 7, 1862 and in the fall campaign in Arkansas; stationed at Alton Military Prison, 1864, veteranized in Company B, 10th Kansas Veteran Volunteer Infantry, fought at the battle of Nashville, TN, December 15-16, 1864; fought at the battle of Fort Blakeley, Alabama on April 9, 1865, mustered out in September 1865. Returned to New Lancaster, Miami Co., Kansas; married Ann Eliza Denhart, New Madrid, MO; lived in Montgomery Co., Kansas. After 12 children, the death of his wife, farming and railroading, George Tracy relocated to LaCygne, Kansas where he passed away in 1918 and is buried in LaCygne.

I have one unpublished manuscript on Lane's Kansas Brigade (3rd, 4th, 5th Kansas) and several internet published stories on the 10th Kansas Infantry at the St. Louis in the Civil War website. I have e-mailed some of you in the past and would love to hear from you again.
