James Davis Hines is from Warren Co Ky. He joins Buckner Guides Infantry Regt on 15 Oct. 1861. Records show him in Co D 2nd Regt. Ky Cavalry. He is appointed by Brig. Gen Duke as Adjutant, in the 2nd Regt and then in the 4th. His unit surrenders at Atlanta Ga. on 19 May 1865 and is paroled on the 24th after swallowing the yellow dog. He is married to my 2nd cousin 4 x removed Harriet Briggs Thomas b. 1843 in Warren County , whose line stretches back to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to 1666.

Henry was born abt. 1842 in Allen County, Kentucky. He was 19 years old when he joined on 10 Sept at Lexington for three years by Gen. Buford. He is in Co.C Morgans Men, Kentucky,which is assigned to Capt. Rowan's Co. Kentucky Partisan Rangers. 2nd Kentucky Cavalry [Duke's] and Capt. James E Cantrell's Company. He is captured at Sugar Creek, Tennessee on 9 Oct. 1863. He is sent to Camp Morton in Indianopolis, Indiana. He is released from Camp Morton on 25 March 1865. He disppears and no trace of him has been found.
