From a Declaration For Original Invalid Pension dated March 24, 1902
Elzia Bond, who was enrolled on the 4th day of October 1861 in the Company E of the 5th Regiment of The Kentucky Cavalry, commanded by John A.P. Flores and was honorably discharged at Nashville, TN on the 24th day of January 1864. That his personal description is as follows: Age 22, Height 5 feet 6 inches, Complexion dark, Hair dark, Eyes blue.
That while a member of the organization aforesaid in the service and in the line of his duty at or near Augusta in the State of Georgia, on or about the 17th day of February, 1865, he was seriously injured in the left breast and shoulder which resulted in rheumatism in the shoulders in limbs, that he was in Sherman's Raid and helping to destroy the Confederate Rail Road to cut off their re-enforcement.

That he was treated in hospitals as follows: at Columbia, TN for mumps in 1862 and at Nashville, TN in 1863 for chills and fever, and was near no hospital when he was infirmed.

That he re-enlisted in Company E. 5th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry, January 25th 1864 and served to August 7th 1865 at the rank of Corporal.

Ky, was captured in Kingsport, Ga exchanged and died of thyphoid fever buried in civil war graveyard in Marietta , Ga grave number 522 After the war his widow Jane Biggerstaff married William B Short who served in the CSA 3rd or 4th cavalry csa and father of Capt. George H (Beanie) Short a lengendary confederate guerilla . William Short and Anderson Biggerstaff lived close to one another.
