Alexander Wilson

Alexander Wilson was married to Elizabeth Dawson who died in 1857 in Trigg Co., KY in childbirth with twins, one of which survived (my g-grandmother). He enlisted in service from Graves Co., KY. He was injured at Ft. Donelson. He moved to Henry Co., TN but I don't know why. He remarried to Mary Ann Green there then she died, too, cause unknown. He reenlisted in the CSA, again in the 3rd KY Infantry from Graves Co., KY but this time in Company E. He was injured at Harrisburg. After he got back to Henry Co., TN, he married again to Mary Ann Caldwell who had lost her first husband and 3 brothers in the CSA. Alex and Mary Ann had 9 children before he died in 1900 in Henry Co., TN. Buried Oak Hill Union Cemetery.

James Madison Pearce

Captain James 'Jim' Madison Pearce commanded Co. C of the 3rd KY. Infantry until his death in battle at Shiloh on April 6, 1862.
A native of Caldwell Co, KY. he commanded the Caldwell Co. 'Beauregards' company of the Kentucky State Guard militia that became Co. C of the 3rd KY. Infantry C.S.A. at Camp Boone, Tenn.
The Caldwell Co. camp of the United Confederate Veterans was named Jim Pearce Camp No. 527 in his honor after the war.
Today, Jim Pearce Camp No. 2527 Sons of Confederate Veterans in Princeton, KY. is also named in his honor.

Robert Cobb Purdy

R.C. Purdy (1838-1917) was my 3rd great-grandfather, from Caldwell Co, KY. Enlisted in 3rd KY. as a regimental drummer from formation at Camp Boone, Tenn. in July 1861 until captured by occupying federal troops in April 1864 while on leave at home from Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's cavalry.
A carpenter by trade, he was detailed to the Confederate Army Corps of Sappers and Miners while stationed at Bowling Green,KY. 1861-62.
Died 1917. Buried at Otter Pond Cemetery in Caldwell Co.

Pvt. Vance was from Calloway County in Western Kentucky. Enlisted at Camp Boone, TN. He was wounded at Shiloh, taken prisoner, and died in a Paducah, KY hospital a week later. He is buried in Haynes Cemetery in Calloway County overlooking Kentucky Lake. He has a Confederate marker on his grave.
