Was assigned to a New Orleans Heavy Artillery Battery. He was killed in 1864. After the War his body was returned to New Orleans for buriel at the Chalmette National Battlefield Cemetery.

Eugene was 24 years old when he enlisted in New Orleans 26 may 1861 by Lt Phifer in Capt B. F. Eshleman's Co 4th Battn: Louisiana Arty. This unit was considered one of the best. It saw action in most Eastern land battles. Eugene suffered from vertigo as did many artillery men. He was killed in action at Drewry's Bluff om 14 May 1864. and is buried in Blanford Cem, Petersburg, Virginia. He was the stepson of my 1st cousin 6 x removed. Bloods thin but still kin. Deo Vindice

William Greene Raoul was in 2nd Company. He fought in the Army of Northern Virginia's Pennsylvania Campaign of 1863. At Gettysburg, his battery participated in the artillery barrage of July 2 which preceded Pickett's (correctly: Pettigrew-Trimble) Charge, near the Sherfy Peach Orchard and Devil's Den.
