Charles Curtis Handy - 3rd Sergeant
Charles was 31 years old when he enlisted 11 July 1862 at Hamburg, Ark. in Co A 13th Battalion La. Partisan Rangers. Later became known as 13 Louisiana Cavalry and then on 20 Feb 1864 became the 5th Louisiana Cavalry. The 13th Partisan Rangers was organized at Monroe 26 Aug 1862. Did Picket duty in East Carrol Parish near Lake Providence. Helped in fight against Gen Sherman through northeastern Louisiana. Skirmished at Caledonia and Pin Hook.
